Pediatric Health Innovation And Evidence-Based Medicine

This has been a busy month in the KidNurse world. We’ve seen the KidNurse Community grow to over 800 members. I fielded a few interviews with media outlets about pediatric health innovation and evidence-based medicine. And we had a great response to the call for cards to deliver to home-bound veterans.

Pediatric Health Innovation At Work

As a proud ASU alumna (Go Sun Devils!), I was very excited when the ASU College of Nursing and Health Innovation recently invited me to be a guest on Facebook Live. Following the interview with Amanda Goodman about the creation of KidNurse, I shared a few additional thoughts about innovation in pediatric healthcare.

KidNurse was started as a response to the healthcare changes in America. Parents now look online for health information first, and then they consult a healthcare provider if they feel like it is necessary.

Some of my friends in the healthcare community are resistant to this change, but simply telling people to stop looking online isn’t a solution. I share their concerns about misinformation online, but I believe the answer is for medical professionals to add to the online body of knowledge with accurate, evidence-based health information.

Creating The KidNurse Community

The Phoenix CBS affiliate, Arizona’s Family, highlighted the KidNurse Community as a great place for parents to find answers to their health questions.

As we head towards the end of 2017, I didn’t want to let November pass without telling you how thankful I am for all of the KidNurse readers and the mothers and nurses in the KidNurse Community who help to make it a wonderful, supportive place for parents to connect and get advice. You all make KidNurse my favorite place on the internet, and I’m truly honored to be a resource on your parenting journey! Thank you!
